To remix as well as to remake the cult song Dum Maro Dum which was composed by the legendary musician R.D Burman must be a herculean task for Pritam, but the composer excels without succumbing to mediocrity. The Mit Jaaye Gham song featuring the hot Deepika Padukone is a dynamic hit track which will seize you with its tremendous energy. If the original was reminiscent of the hippie culture, the Pritam version signifies now is the time of DJs. The song will give you a new high with its crass lyrics (food for thought?) woven into the contemporary music that Pritam has blend so well with the melody of the original track. Yes, there are many who are complaining about the song, but listen to the entire track and just give in toDum Maaro Dum Mit Jaaye Ghammood.
What’s next? Te Amo (meaning ‘I love You’ in Spanish). It’s a simple, subtle and soothing love track. But neither the romantic words nor the mellifluous, lilting music wins you over. Though Mohit Chauhan belts out the song for itsReprise version and Sunidhi Chauhan renders it passionately for the female version, the tracks fail to leave an ineffaceable impression which is quite unlike Pritam’s other songs devoted to love. The kind of tracks he’s been efficiently composing from the start. Don’t we still like to hum songs fromTum Mile and Jannat! The Remix version by Kirron Kamath and the Duet version of the same song also doesn’t do much wonder, Te Amo does fall short of expectations.
Remember the deadly combo of Pritam and Assamese singer-composer Zubeen Garg! Yet again Pritam gets another Assamese singer Papon aka Angaraag Mahanta for Jiyein Kyun. Pritam has indeed recreated the Ya Alieffect with Jiyein Kyun. The song is a riveting listening experience. But those in the know of the rock music scene in the eastern India -- especially Bengal, Assam and Bangladesh -- will not find it different. I am glad that Pritam came up with a song like this, and we hope he keeps surprising us.
Think of the devil, and the devil is here. Welcome Zubeen with Jaana Haisong. Let me warn you, here is some serious musical stuff. The impact is phenomenal and your ears would not have enough of it. Jaana hai baadal se door, chhaaya hai pagal suroor, Zubeen’s sensational voice will drive you crazy while music will leave you craving for more.
After rock are you ready for hip-hop? Abhishek Bachchan makes you groove to the tune of Thayn Thayn. The song, just like gunfire sounds, has power beats, and Abhi adds pizzazz with his rapping. Just like Right Now Right Here song from Bluffmaster, this song too demands your attention. The fast-paced song will excite and entice you with its zest and zing, and not once do you lose the track of the song. Intriguing and mind-boggling!
Though the makers have predominantly used Mit Jaaye Gham song to create the buzz, they shouldn’t miss out the other tracks which bustle with vim and ‘dum’. Rohan Sippy and Co. have managed to pull off a high-powered entertaining album and each song will tickle your fancy.
