The Band Perry

The Band Perry
Country music fans have voted Greeneville’s “The Band Perry” the coveted honor of “Best New Group,” it was announced Sunday night at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.

The announcement came just moments after the group — Kimberly, Neil and Reid Perry — had performed their platinum hit single from 2010, “If I Die Young,” which Kimberly Perry also wrote.

The song was released in June 2010, and went right to No. 1 on the country charts.

Before Sunday night’s announcement, The Band Perry had already won “Top New Vocal Duo or Group.”

The band was competing with Eric Church for “Top New Artist.”

Kimberly, Neil and Reid Perry are the children of Dr. Steve and Marie Perry of Greeneville. The family has lived here since 2002.

Please see Monday’s issue of The Greeneville Sun for details and photos of the Perrys’ new award.
