The Kennedy's Miniseries

Katie Holmes
Katie Holmes enlisted help from top designer Giorgio Armani to look like her on-screen character Jacqueline Kennedy in the new miniseries "The Kennedys," which premiered on Sunday, April 3 after months of hurdles.
Armani recreated an iconic pink Chanel suit that Kennedy wore on the day of the assassination of her husband President John F. Kennedy in 1963.
Holmes, 32, and husband Tom Cruise "have a relationship with Armani, and when they found out she was doing the project, they asked to make her clothes," StyleList.com quoted the actress' wardrobe designer, Christopher Hargadon, as saying.
"We created right there a lot of her beautiful looks, including hand-painting some of her dresses," Holmes told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Chris Balish at the recent Los Angeles premiere for the miniseries. "Mr. Armani also made a couple of peces for this project so it was fun, to say the least."
Cruise, 48, accompanied Holmes at the miniseries' Los Angeles premiere (see photos).
In January, the History Channel yanked the 8-episode project, which had a multimillion dollar production budget, from its lineup, saying the project did not fit the "History brand."
The cable networks Showtime, Starz, FX and more had also reportedly turned down offers to air the miniseries. The real-life Kennedy family and associates felt its scripts are inaccurate and overly critical, the Associated Press said.
The actress rose to fame playing Joey on the 1990s teen series "Dawson's Creek." In addition to "The Kennedys," Holmes has been concentrating on her movie career and is set to return to the big screen in 2011 in the film "The Son of No One" and "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark." She is also currently filming "Jack and Jill"with Adam Sandler and Al Pacino.
