Cutler

Cutler
The season of the Chicago Bears took a big hit after the team's starting quarterback, Jay Cutler, suffered a broken thumb of his throwing hand, according to reports.

NFL Network's collaborator Jay Glazer reported the injury within hours of the week 11 win for the Bears over the San Diego Chargers 31 to 20 that is tied with the Detroit Lions in the second place in the NFC North.

Cutler played the entire game, completing 18 of 31 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns with an interception on Chicago's fifth straight victory. According to reports, the injury would have happened in the last quarter when Chargers linebacker Donald Butler blocked it after Cutler threw the interception. The quarterback threw two passes later and completed both.

According to Vaughn McClure reporter for the Chicago Tribune, the player will require surgery to correct the damage and consequently lose 6 to 8 weeks, a scenario that would allow him to return in the hypothetical case that the Bears qualified for the playoffs, although this information is unofficial.

Chicago will have to play with Caleb Hanie as the starting quarterback. The Bears, with a record of 7-3, with games against Raiders, Chiefs, Broncos, Seahawks, Packers and Minnesota in the rest of his campaign.
