Mr Tan Jee Say, 57, a former principal private secretary to Mr Goh Chok Tong, said he joined the opposition because he was dismayed at the direction that Singapore's society and economy had been heading in recent years.
HE RECALLS People's Action Party leaders interviewing him 27 years ago as a potential candidate but former high-flying civil servant Tan Jee Say has now confirmed he will contest in this election on an opposition ticket.
Mr Tan, 57, a former principal private secretary (PPS) to Mr Goh Chok Tong, will be introduced as a Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) candidate this weekend.
Now a private investor, he joined the opposition because he is dismayed at the direction Singapore's society and economy have been heading in recent years.
He is set to contest in Holland-Bukit Timah GRC or Sembawang GRC and is gunning to win.
