Mike Anderson

Mike Anderson
Mike Anderson will meet with officials at the University of Arkansas on Wednesday about the school's vacant head coaching position and will likely accept an offer, ESPN college basketball insider Andy Katz reportedWednesday.

40/29 News in Northwest Arkansas also reported that Arkansas was expected to hire Anderson.

Anderson, who has been wavering between extending his contract at Missouri and entertaining interest from Arkansas, has not made any public comments about the situation. There have no comments from the University of Missouri. Anderson is likely to see a significant salary increase, no matter where he winds up coaching next fall.

Anderson's name had been mentioned as a possible coaching candidate even before Arkansas fired John Pelphrey at the end of a disappointing season.

Anderson was an assistant coach under former Arkansas head coach Nolan Richardson when the Razorbacks won the national title in 1994.

Anderson led the Tigers to three NCAA tournament appearances, including a loss in the Elite Eight in 2009. The Tigers qualified for the tournament this year, but lost to Cincinnati and finished with a disappointing 8-8 conference record.

Anderson's contract requires him to get permission from the University of Missouri before interviewing for another coaching job. It was not clear whether the school had granted any requests. The Missouri Board of Curators made no statements about the situation following a scheduled meeting on Tuesday in Rolla.
