The new monument will finally have a proper dedication on the National Mall in WashingtonDC., Weeks after a hurricane hit the city and plans to postpone the opening ceremony.
In the morning, Aretha Franklin, Nikki Giovanni poet and Obama will be among that honorsthe legacy of the greatest American leader of civil rights at the monument of granite.
Among the planned speeches is that of Christine King Farris, sister of the honoree, his son Martin Luther King III and Bernice King daughter.

Giovanni will read his poem In the Spirit of Martin. Franklin will sing. And the first U.S.black president will give a speech about a man who "gave his life serving others."
Later, after the ceremony, the president and first lady Michelle Obama will host a reception at the White House to the King family and members of the human rights community.
Originally, the dedication of the memorial was scheduled for August but was postponedafter the hurricane "Irene" swept the Washington region with strong winds and torrential rains.
Obama, his wife and daughters, Malia and Sasha, made on Friday October 14th a surprise visit to Martin Luther King memorial.
