Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

oday the 2012 Hall of Fame nominations came out and once again the J. Geils Band was snubbed — seems the band gets a nomination every other year only to fail to make the cut.
A few locals — notably Aerosmith and James Taylor — have been immortalized in Cleveland. But mostly the Hall has turned up their noses at our greatest acts. Geils, the Cars and Boston have yet to be called to the Hall, while non-rockers from ABBA to Madonna to Leonard Cohen have been enshrined.
There’s nothing wrong with a Cohen ballad, but spin the Canadian poet’s “Songs of Leonard Cohen” back-to-back with “Heartbeat City” and tell me who rocks harder? It’s no contest.
Perennial-nominee and Dorchester-native Donna Summer did get a nod, but she’s gotten nominated half a dozen times only to be overlooked.
Here’s who might be in the Class of 2012 along with Donna Summer:

* The Beastie Boys
* The Cure
* Donovan
* Eric B. and Rakim
* Guns ‘N Roses
* Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
* Heart
* Freddie King
* Laura Nyro
* Red Hot Chili Peppers
* Rufus and Chaka Khan
* The Small Faces/The Faces
* The Spinners
* War
Acts must have released a single or album 25 years ago to qualify for induction. The new class will be inducted at a ceremony at the hall of fame in Cleveland on April 14.
Who you pulling for in this year’s race?
