Today marks two momentous occasions in U.S. history: the first is our birthday!!! The Pace of Chicago is two years old today! The second big occasion is National Donut Day! Why people have to go to work is beyond me?
Dunkin Donuts has jumped in to help celebrate both occasions with some pretty cool gifts for everyone. To help us celebrate our second birthday, Dunkin Donuts has put together a massive gift bag that includes a $100 GIFT CARD and some other cool Dunkin Donuts stuff to help keep you runnin' all year long.
The second gift is for everyone, everywhere. To help you celebrate National Donut Day,Dunkin Donuts is offering free donuts to everyone with a beverage purchase!
In two years a lot has happened to the Pace of Chicago and there are so many people to thank for helping make us a success, you know who you are, I couldn't have done this without you.
When Chicagonow launched in 2009, there were 6 original blogs, we were lucky enough to be one of them. Since that time 833 blogs have come and gone through the Chicagonow family. We have had several dozen Tweet Ups, one radio show and our constantly changing home page and 9 "blogger children." In true endurance fashion, The Pace keeps on moving forward.
When we launched, several people told me that they didn't think there would be enough to write about once the Summer was over. In the two years since our launch we have posted 536 articles, covering everything from the Chicago Triathlon to The Chicago Code.
Two years ago we were given the order to "build a community for your readers." You have all made that happen, the shop owners, race directors, coaches, athletes, public relations people, brands, my ever patient family and of course Jimmy Greenfield and the Chicagonow staff who put up with me. You have jumped in with your news, information, tips and ideas. You have helped form this community and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
You have put up with my questionable spelling, punctuation and grammar. You have supported me when I was flat on back and put me in my place when I was 100% wrong. You have helped a stranger change his life for the better, you have supported hundreds of charities, you have jumped in to volunteer, you have helped show the world that the Chicago Endurance Community is second to none. Thank you!
