Lui Tuck Yew

Lui Tuck Yew
A man became verbally abusive towards Cabinet Minister Lui Tuck Yew and his team of activists when they were on the campaign trail yesterday.
The Straits Times reported that Mr Lui and his party had visited a private estate as part of his election campaign. They had gained permission from a resident to enter.
Shortly after, they ran into the man, who was in his 50s. He told them angrily in English that he was from the management committee, and that they were not allowed in the compound.
Prompted by this unwelcoming act, the Minister and his team decided to get ready to leave.
However, the man ran after them, declaring that the PAP was "the worst government in the world".
Mr Lui posted the incident on his Facebook page, calling it "the most nasty moment of our campaign so far". His security officers informed the police of the incident later in the day as it was their duty to do so, but he would not press charges.
The Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, who is standing in the Moulmein-Kallang GRC said that although the man "behaved in a threatening manner", he did not actually threaten his life.
He also declined to give more details about the man, or the name of the estate.
He added: "We sometimes meet unfriendly people while campaigning, but this was way above anything we have ever encountered".
Mr Lui wrote on Facebook that  he hopes that “even our most ardent PAP supporters would not resort to such behaviour when (they) encounter the opposition".
