With the courtroom breaking for lunch, all 110 jurors have been question with respect to the hardships they may endure if they are chosen to serve on Casey Anthony’s jury.
The court saw excuses ranging from language barriers to a woman who did not want to “Have her house trashed by her son and his girlfriend,” should she have to leave for 8 weeks.
Juror number 90 declared to Judge Perry that she has prejudged the guilt of Casey Anthony and therefore cannot sit the jury with any impartiality.
Today’s jury selection launched quickly into the juror questions and Casey Anthony remained stoic throughout the mornings proceedings, even seen showing sympathy for a juror who was relating how he cares for his aunt who has breast cancer.
The original 110 prospective jurors have been questioned with less than half of them stating they had no hardship and have been asked to return for further questions. It is being reported by In Session, that 69 jurors have been dismissed with 39 remaining in which to choose a panel of 20.
However, this afternoon, the judge will call an additional pool of 50 more jurors for the same “hardship” questioning.
Also, the defense teams has raised questions as to the diversity of the pool of jurors from the St. Petersburg area. Attorney Baez feels the diversity does not match that which would be obtained in Orlando, thus leaving Anthony’s fate to be determined by a jury other than that of her peers, as is her right.
