YouTube IPL 2011 |
India Premier Greatness – Next
It was only 6 days ago India celebrated a legendary victory over a very highly rated Sri Lanka team in the ICC World Cup final. We watched with millions as India demonstrated just why their team should be the envy of the cricket world. Now, the same cohesive team which catapaulted the national team to greatness, turns into powerful adversarial drama for IPL 2011. The inaugural game of the fourth season of the DLF Indian Premier League cranks up momentarily.Today’s battle between the all new Kolkata Knight Riders led by Gautam Gambhir, and Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings promises to start things off with a bang. While there is no history to go by to gauge Kolkata, a potent looking middle-order on top of their noted “all rounders” is promising. For Chennai? This team radiates class. This is a battle of excellent “knowns” versus potentially great “unknowns” in my book. It will be interesting to find out what potential Kolkata unleashes.

The probable lineups are as follows:

Kolkata Knight Riders: Gambhir (c), Sreevats Goswami, Tiwary, Kallis, Morgan, Yusuf Pathan, Ten Doeschate, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Sangwan, Balaji, Abdullah
The head to head comparison between the teams is not so meaningful with the dramatic changes having been made, but Chennai has dominated the meetings in the past 4 to 1. The first week’s schedule for IPL 4 is as follows:
