Black Day

Black Day
Thursday has been declared a black day for public service employees to show dissatisfaction over salary negotiations ahead of the planned strike next Monday.
"This is to show how hurt they are by this issue's failure to be resolved," said Goretetse Kekgonegile the president of the Botswana Land Boards and Local Authorities and Health Workers Union (BLLAHWU) and spokesperson for the conglomeration of the public service unions - BOFEPUSU. He said all members of the unions have been requested to wear black clothes on Thursday.

BOFEPUSU is made up of the Botswana Teachers Union (BTU), Botswana Secondary Teachers Union (BOSETU), Botswana Land Boards, Local Authorities and Health Workers Union (BLLAHWU), Botswana Public Employees Union (BOPEU) and the National Amalgamated, Central and Local Government and Parastatal Workers Union (NACLGPWU).
The unions have threatened to embark on a 10-day strike starting on Monday 18 to 29 when they will review the industrial action. "This will also depend on what the employer has offered by then," Kekgonegile said.
