Mr Ong Ye Kung, who is likely to stand in Aljunied GRC and Mr Ang Hin Kee, who will be fielded in Ang Mo Kio GRC, were at the launch of Workforce Development Agency or WDA's Workforce Skills Qualifications framework for public transport workers on Wednesday morning.
Mr Ong is also the Executive Secretary of National Transport Workers' Union while Mr Ang is CEO of e2i, an employment and employability institute.
Both men also took note of the calibre of opposition candidates and the keen fight they are likely to offer.
"Yes I would welcome any opposition parties to come and contest in Ang Mo Kio GRC but do make it a very serious attempt, and bring forth your best team with the best strategy, and be prepared to serve as and when you are elected in," said Mr Ang.
Mr Ong said: "Whether it's A team, B team, I suppose for us, we recognise, opposition - their credentials - are getting better. They have said publicly, they are going all out, they are very determined to win Aljunied.
"We just have to be at our best preparation, fight for every vote by showing residents that we can serve them well, and we are here to stay, to be serious, to be sincere, and really to attend to their needs.
