Trump Birth Certificate |
Mr. Trump, who has gained national attention concerning his questioning of Mr. Obama’s birth certificate, attempted to present his own birth certificate Monday only to realize it was a copy.
Politico reported that the document presented by Mr. Trump is not, in fact, his official birth certificate. The Department of Health, which issues birth certificates in New York, presents an agency seal and also a signature of the city registrar – neither of which the Mr. Trump document has.
Politico reported that “city officials said it’s not an official document.”
The questioning of Mr. Trump’s birth certificates follows in the wake of a week of Mr. Trump following in the footsteps of “birthers” questioning Mr. Obama’s birth certificate. Mr. Trump had repeatedly said he would offer his official birth certificate as part of his criticism of Mr. Obama.
Mr. Trump continues to float the possibility of a run for president. The New York real estate mogul has plans to travel to New Hampshire and Iowa in the coming months, raising speculation that he will seek the Republican presidential nomination.
