Thailand Earthquake
Two 7.0-magnitude earthquakes rocked northern Thailand, Thursday 3 / 24 nights. Tremor was reported felt in Bangkok, Myanmar, to Hanoi.
Residents who was in tall buildings are reported immediately evacuated to a safe place. However, so far beluam no reports of damage or casualties due to earthquake vibrations.
The quake’s epicenter was near Chiang Rae, on the Thai border with Myanmar and Laos often called the Golden Triangle area. The hilly area known as one of the central fields of opium.
United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the first quake occurred at 20:55 pm with the epicenter 772 km north of Bangkok. The second earthquake occurred a few seconds later with the center at the same coordinates. The first quake’s epicenters at a depth of 10 km while the second quake at a depth of 225 km.
Initially USGS as reported by Reuters reported that a second earthquake measuring 7.0. However, shortly thereafter, the strength of the quake corrected to 6.8 and recorded only one earthquake. Soon after the quake, aftershocks with a magnitude 4.8 the same center.
