Miami

Miami Science Museum
The Miami Science Museum is set to become the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, thanks to a $35 million donation by the philanthropic couple.
The donation was announced Saturday night, giving a huge boost to the museum's goal of building a new facility. Roughly two-thirds of the estimated $275 million cost will be funded by the county, thanks to taxpayer approval of a bond issue in 2004. The rest is slated to come from private donations by individuals and corporations.
The 250,000 square-foot complex will feature an aquarium, planetarium, hands-on exhibits and classrooms.
A groundbreaking is expected within the year.
