JobsDB Career Expo 2011

JobsDB Career Expo 2011
THE Malaysian JobsDB Career Expo 2011 received over 75,000 job applications for 2,000 job postings offered at the three-day event, which ended on Sunday.
Organised by JobsDB Malaysia Sdn Bhd (JobsDB), the expo themed "The Better Job Fair" saw over 100 multinational and private companies participating both on-site and virtually, through the JobsDB Pavilion, offering jobs for fresh graduates and young professionals up to senior positions including management levels.
"The show was a big success. Jobseekers were impressed with the participating companies and the job opportunities. The employers were happy with the quality of candidates and number of visitors. We have exceeded our target of 75,000 applications. This was higher than our 2010 Career Expo," said JobsDB acting general manager Steven Seek in a statement.
Seek said it reflects the confidence jobseekers have in JobsDB in organising a premium and quality career event.
"Though the fair is officially over, the Career Expo 2011 will go on . Jobseekers can continue to look for jobs if they missed out at the recent event as well as look out for updates. At the same time, employers can continue to upload new job listings until April 3, and manage the resumes acquired until April 24," he added.
Meanwhile, a participating representative from the banking industry said: "We joined again this year, especially due to the paperless environment. The crowd was manageable and the process was smooth enough for us to talk to the candidates and learn what they want as far as their career choice is concerned."
The annual event, held for the sixth time, was endorsed by the Labour Department, which has its own listing through the JobsMalaysia portal, offering over 189,000 vacancies.
This year, AirAsia, Maybank, Walton International Properties and Streetdirectory.com shared the Gold Booth with the Labour Department. Other companies that participated in the event included Honda Malaysia, Malaysian Assurance Alliance Bhd, Plus Expressway, Perodua, Cyberview Sdn Bhd, Hong Leong Assurance, IBM Malaysia, Courts Malaysia, Nippon Paint, Sun Media Corporation, Pharmaniaga Logistics, Brandt International and Royal Selangor.
Supporting partners included TuneTalk, 88db, University Tun Abdul Razak and its Centre For Education, Sunway University and Worthy Book. Business Todaywas the official business magazine, while theSun newspaper, hitz.fm and My FM supported the event as media partners.
