Ina Garten is in the headlines lately not for her delicious recipes, but for turning down a request from a little boy working with the Make-A-Wish foundation. He had requested a chance to cook with the Barefoot Contessa last year and she was unable to honor the wish because of a book tour. This time around, she’s turned him down again citing her very busy schedule.
The Make-A-Wish foundation is an amazing charity that grants the wishes of children aged 2 1/2 – 18 with life-threatening medical conditions. The little boy in this instance is a 6 year-old named Enzo suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After Ina Garten turned him down a second time the foundation urged Enzo to make a different wish, and he is now training to swim with the dolphins.
According to TMZ, Make-A-Wish foundation maintains that Ina Garten is a “good friend” of the organization. It’s easy to understand that she has a very busy schedule and must receive so many requests for this type of thing, and yet it is hard to understand that she is unable to take some time to fulfill this little boy’s request.
