No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani has donated $1 million to Save the Children for their Japanese earthquake-tsunami, children in emergency fund.  ”I’ve been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture. The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking, and I want to do anything I can to help.  I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years,” Stefani said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The singer and fashion designer is also coming out with a limited edition Harajuku Lovers t-shirt and she will be donating 100% of the profits to relief efforts. Harajuku is the fashion district of Tokyo and also describes the distinct street fashion and culture of the area.  Stefani’s 2004 debut solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby.  includes the single “Harajuku Girls.”(Download Music from the Gwen Stefani album “The Sweet Escape”). She also has a fragrance line named  Harajuku Lovers.
Stefani isn’t the only star looking for a way to help aid efforts in Japan.
Universal Music Group is putting together a digital-only compilation album; proceeds will be donated to Japanese relief efforts.  Musicians rumored to be taking part include U2, Rihanna, Bon Jovi, Justin Bieber and Niki Minaj.
Lady Gaga is selling bracelets on her website; she is donating all profits to relief efforts.
The celebrity philanthropic organization Charitybuzz is holding an online auction called Tsunami Aid.  Bidding is open now and closes on April 7th.  Below is a list of current auction options.
  • Meet and greet with Kim Kardashian in New York, current bid is $1,750.00.
  • A Yamaha 326 acoustic guitar autographed by James Taylor, current bid is $1,600.
  • 4 V.I.P. tickets to the Conan show in Los Angeles, current bid is $0, minimum bid is $250.
  • 2 tickets to a Today Show concert of your choice, current bid is $325.
  • Meet and greet with Jimmy Kimmel, 4 tickets to Jimmy Kimmel Live and green room access, current bid is $900.
