Girls Generation
The popular South Korean singing group "Girls' Generation" (Shojo Jidai) will launch its first Japan tour in May, Universal Music LLC has announced.
"We are very flattered to be able to tour across Japan, which has been our goal since last year. We're already excited about our upcoming tour!" said one of the members of the nine-strong all-female unit that debuted in Japan in 2010.
The group will kick off its Japan tour at Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on May 18, followed by six concerts in the capital and three other cities, expecting to draw an audience of 60,000.
"We're also looking forward to enjoying local delicacies wherever we visit in Japan," one member said. "Please expect much from our first Japan tour and come to see us at the concert venues," she added.
Prior to their first full-scale tour across Japan, the group will also release "Mr. Taxi" on April 13 as their first song exclusively for the Japan market. The dance tune was earlier distributed to limited audiences in January, but the latest release will be a single CD coupled with another popular song, "Run Devil Run."
A limited edition of the new CD will be accompanied with a DVD of the group's music video and a photo book. The initial edition will also feature a different cover from the normal version.
Girls' Generation comprises Sooyoung, Tiffany, Jessica, Hyoyeon, Taeyeon, Yuri and Sunny, all aged 21, as well as 20-year-old YoonA and 19-year-old SeoHyun.
