The video, which was shown to a group of journalists on Monday by a man who called himself Datuk T, has taken the country by storm becoming a subject of discussion in streets and coffee shops.
"This is a humiliating, excessive and politically-motivated attack against my character and reputation and my family," his report said.
In the report, Anwar denied that he was the man in the video and said he was at home with his party members, his wife, children, grandchildren and tweeting on that day and at that time.
An unidentified group had claimed that it had a black-and-white video clip of a sexual act between an opposition leader and a woman said to be a prostitute at a hotel.
