$16.4 Million Cable Bill |
Lt Daniel DeVirgilio of Beavercreek, Ohi received a letter telling him that his credit card payment of his Time Warner Cable bill had been rejected because it did not have sufficient funds to pay the amount of $16,409,107,
the Dayton Daily News reports.
"Had I known this I would have bought Showtime," joked the engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton.
Officials at Time Warner Cable Southwest Ohio said that Lt DeVirgilio's huge bill was due to error on the part of one of its employees.
A Time Warner spokesman said Lt DeVirgilio never received a bill for $16.4 million and his credit card was not charged.
"We apologise for the inconvenience that it caused," the spokesman said. "We are going to work with the customer to get this resolved."
Lt DeVirgilio, 26, said he spent more than 40 minutes on the phone with a Time Warner customer service representative trying to sort out the problem. His usual monthly cable bill, which is set to be paid automatically every month, is about $80, he said.
