Enchanted Kingdom, the country’s counterpart to Disneyland, is on track with its target to attain as much as 10 percent increase in sales this year as it gears up to become a premier events place in the country.
Mario O. Mamon, EK chairman and president, told Business Bulletin they expect to increase sales between 5 to 10 percent by attaining its target to host 1.3 million guests or attendance this year from 1.2 million in 2010.
“We are on track with our growth target,” Mamon said.
Mamon said that EK is expanding its events place, which can now host 300 people, at its 1.5 hectare available lot.
“We are temporarily holding our events place in a 500 square meter lot but we hope to double the size in three to five years,” says Mamon.
Its events place has become popular, especially for corporate activities for companies coming from Southern Luzon.
“We can hold big conventions in our park, we have wedding reception and debuts,” Mamon said.
The company has also continuously improved on its rides to add excitement to its guests.
In addition, Mamon said, the park features different new shows every quarter.
Once its masterplan is completed, Mamon said there could be major improvements in the park. Implementation of new improvements could happen in the next two to three years.
EK has over 24 rides and attractions to date.
At present, 40 percent of its attendance is accounted for by educational sector and the rest by corporate affairs and walk-in guests.
Meantime, Mamon’s wife, Cynthia, is taking over as CEO of the company as Mamon is set to assume the chairmanship of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, which has 92 members globally, including Disneyland, Universal Studios, among others.
Mamon is the concurrent president of the 15-member Philippine Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, which is a member of the IAAPA.
In fact, the current IAAPA chairman Bobby Rippy will be visiting in the country this Friday.
Rippy, the first ever IAAPA Chairman to visit the Philippines since it was founded over 93 years ago in the United States, is the owner-president of Jungle Rapids Family Fun Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, USA.
