Prior to today's semi-final showdown against big rivals and neighbours Pakistan in the biggest global cricket tournament, the world-famous pouter - who is a regular in swimwear calendars, apparently - showed as much support for her team as her bras generally do for her.
The 20-year-old, who claims her stripping promise is 'absolutely not' a publicity stunt, said: 'I'm confident of my body and I'm doing this to excite our boys to play better.'
Several newspapers back in India got pretty excited too, with headlines and pictures galore.
Although with more than 90 per cent of the country devout Hindus and Muslims it remains to be seen how her pledge will be seen among the wider public.
Miss Pandey's promise to go nude, which mirrors a similar vow from Paraguayan model  Larissa Riquelme at last year's football World Cup, is 'her way of supporting the team', she added.
The problem for Miss Pandey is that India are much more likely to scoop the big prize than Paraguay - who reached the quarter-finals - ever were.
But then our Larissa went ahead and did it anyway - scooping a lucrative contract to promote a mobile phone manufacturer along the way. Nice work if you can get it (Mr Phone)...
