Brett Favre |
“It hurts people who didn’t ask to be involved in my life and put in the spotlight. It hurt my family,” Sterger said in the portion of the interview that aired Wednesday reported by CBS. The scandal was reported by Deadspin.com and revealed that Brett Favre, then with the New York Jets, allegedly sent Sterger nude photos and left her voicemails begging her to get together with him when he played for the team in 2008. At the time Sterger was employed by the Jets as a sideline reporter.
In the interview, Sterger reported that the scandal with Brett Favre turned her life “upside” down. “(A) man walked up to my mother that she worked with at one of her schools and asked her what it’s like to have Brett Favre’s grand babies,” an emotional Sterger said. “What could she say? My sister, who just graduated from nursing school, and just got her first nursing job, has to go (to work) and people look at her name badge and people go, ‘Oh, you’re related to the Favre girl.’ What’s she supposed to say?”
According to NFL.com, the NFL concluded its investigation of Favre by fining him $50,000 for failing to cooperate with the process while stating Sterger did nothing wrong. Based on the evidence available, Commissioner Roger Goodell could not conclude that Favre had violated the league’s personal-conduct policy.
Since the scandal, Sterger said that she has been trying to rebuild her career. She was very open in saying that she has not made any profit off of the scandal. “I haven’t made a dime off anything in this whole situation,” she told ABC. “Not from the pictures. Not from Favre. That was never an intention of mine. This has nothing to do with Brett Favre. It doesn’t. I just want people to know me. And to know that I’m not a gold digger. And I’m not a home-wrecker,” she said.
